Chapter 2: Keep Calm and Doodle On

2.2 Why doodle for EMC²?

Now, why mix doodles with empathy, mindfulness, critical inquiry, and compassion? Picture this: EMC² is like a balanced meal for the brain, with each component adding a unique flavour. Doodling is the seasoning. It makes these concepts more digestible and memorable.

  • Empathy: Drawing how someone feels helps you see the world through their eyes.
  • Mindfulness: Doodling grounds you in the moment, just like focusing on your breath.
  • Critical Inquiry: Sketching out an idea forces you to break it down visually. No fluff, just facts.
  • Compassion: When you doodle a person’s story, you’re not just illustrating, you’re feeling it.

When you doodle, you’re not just creating art, you’re making meaning. Doodling isn’t just for art class; it’s for history, science, maths, and every subject where learners need to see and feel ideas.
