2. Happy Schools Framework
2.1 Introduction to Happy Schools
Prof. Vandana Punia
Reflections from UNESCO reports and research findings stated that happiness can be defined as the main purpose of human life. Education is visualized as a fundamental vehicle to enhance happiness and well-being. Schooling is the most significant part of the life of a child. Those schools that can promote happiness, are called happy schools. These happy schools ensure well-being, good health and overall success in life of students. This framework provides an image of quality education that is beyond to province of cognitive indicators i.e., test score or academic achievement but endorses non-cognitive skills in the form of attitude, and values. Its emphasis is on happiness, well-being, social-emotional learning and empathy within an ecosystem. It is not just making machine-like products or schools are not meant for generating robots but good human beings.
