3.1 Rationale of Social-Emotional Learning for Happiness

Research has shown that individuals with high socio-emotional skills are better equipped to cope with stress and day-to-day challenges. Happy individuals often exhibit stronger social connections, better-coping strategies, and increased motivation for learning—essential elements for overall happiness and success. Social-emotional learning is an educational approach that focuses on developing the social and emotional skills of students, teachers and other stakeholders which are essential for a happy school framework. Practising SEL cultivates self-awareness, improves relationships, and provides individuals with effective tools to navigate life’s challenges. These skills are closely linked to happiness and well-being and significantly benefit individual growth and development for a happy life. Indeed, It plays a crucial role in nurturing skills and mindsets that contribute to a happier and more fulfilled life.
